Sept 27th-Oct 10th.Appledore Book Festival 2008.Appledore book festival has a mission to be the most innovative and friendly of them all. For nine days our aim is to transform a beautiful North Devon fishing village into a magical place where famous authors will rub shoulders with dead authors and wit and wisdom rule the roost.

Nov.1st 2008.Galactic Wars Firework Festival Venue: Woodlands Leisure Park.Ashburton.
Nov 5th. Tar Barrels. Every year on November 5th for reasons lost in antiquity, the Flaming Tar Barrels are carried through the streets of Ottery St Mary to the delight of thousands of townsfolk and visitors. Ottery St. Mary is internationally renowned for its Tar Barrels, an old custom said to have originated in the 17th century, and which is held on November 5th each year.

Nov. 29th.South Brent Winter Carnival One of the largest processions in South Devon, of award winning floats and walking group from South and East Devon, with larger float of 100ft long from Bridgewater and Somerset circuits. Carnival procession starting at 6pm in South Brent.
